AMN Healthcare’s five most requested providers are anesthesiologists, family medicine physicians, hematologists/oncologists, nurse practitioners and OB-GYNs. Their pay varies widely by region, according to the firm’s “2026 Review of Physician and Advanced Practitioner Recruiting Incentives,” released Sept. 16.
The white paper used a representative sample of the 1,293 permanent physician and advanced practitioner searches the firm ran or worked on from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026.
Hematologists/oncologists in the Midwest had the highest average annual salaries of the group, at $625,000. Those in the West averaged $386,000.
The Southwest had the highest pay for three of the five: anesthesiology, OB-GYN and nurse practitioners. The Midwest had the highest pay for hematology/oncology and family medicine.
