A survey of other hospitals in northwest Washington found the median CEO salary for hospitals with $75 million to $200 million in operating expenses was $300,281. OMC expects to have $140.9 million in operating expenses this year, according to the report.
Other CEOs in OMC’s region currently make more than Mr. Lewis, although still less than the average. Mike Glenn, CEO of Jefferson Healthcare in Port Townsend, Wash., has a salary of $225,000, and Coupeville, Wash.-based Whidbey General Hospital CEO Tom Tomasino earns $230,000.
If approved, the salary raise would be Mr. Lewis’ first since OMC promoted him from CFO to interim CEO in December 2006, according to the report. He became the permanent CEO in January 2007.
