Michigan Healthcare Professionals PC is the brainchild of Jeffrey Margolis, MD, an oncologist in the state looking to hold down medical costs while providing patients a range of quality care options.
“We can do that, with less cost, as a physician-led, physician-owned medical group,” Dr. Margolis said.
The medical group includes 250 employed physicians and another 850 employees and is intended to improve quality, reduce costs, work with health insurers, develop business ventures and prepare for healthcare reforms.
It’s not a merger of state medical practices, but more a pooling of resources. The group members of Michigan Healthcare combine compensation, medical billing, employee benefits and human resources. They plan to purchase joint medical malpractice insurance and combine pensions in the coming months.
