Surgeons earned the top spot with an average salary of $219,770 in 2009, according to government data. Anesthesiologists were second with an average salary of $211,759, followed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons at $210,710, orthodontists at $206,190 and ob/gyns at $204,470.
