Maricopa hired Mr. Purves in June. He currently serves as president and CEO of Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla., where his base salary is roughly $465,000.
Under the deal with Maricopa, Mr. Purves’ salary would be $525,000 per year, and he could earn up to $125,000 per year in performance-based bonuses, according to the report.
Maricopa drew criticism earlier this year after it awarded retiring CEO Betsey Bayless a $125,000 raise, a move she said she neither requested nor expected.
