CEO James Gonzalez’s Salary at University Hospital to Surpass $416k

James Gonzalez, the recently appointed president and CEO of University Hospital in Newark, N.J., will earn more than $416,000, according to a Star-Ledger report.

University Hospital hired Mr. Gonzalez in July. The 519-bed hospital previously had been part of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, but it became a standalone hospital when UMDNJ dissolved.

When Mr. Gonzalez was hired as University Hospital’s interim president in August 2011, he had an annual salary of $360,000, according to the report. Raises over the past two years pushed his salary to its current level.
