New Jersey Hospital System Reduces Staff By 5%

Denville, N.J.-based Saint Clare’s Health Systems is implementing a comprehensive financial improvement plan that will include job and spending cuts, according a news release made by the system.

The state budget removed more than $120 million in money allocated for charity care and other funding for the state’s hospitals this year, with Saint Clare’s share of the funding cuts coming in at $3.2 million.
 
In an effort to regain financial stability, Saint Clare will be limiting its spending and laying off 180 of Saint Clare’s 3,500 employees or just over 5% of its employees.
