New Hampshire to Monitor Hospital CEO Pay Closely

New Hampshire's director of charitable trusts plans to monitor the compensation of hospital executives more closely over the next year in light of a report that found state non-profit hospital CEO salaries have been rising rapidly, according to a New Hampshire Public Radio report.

"This is something that we want to make sure we're continuing to monitor yearly to ensure that there's current information out there for the public," said Director of Charitable Trusts Anthony Blenkinsop in the report. "We look forward to a dialogue with the hospital association in ways of developing best practices — how can we improve the process."

Last month, the New Hampshire Center for Public Policy found the 18 percent increase in pay growth for hospital CEOs between 2006 and 2009 was higher than the pay increases for all private sector workers, all healthcare sector employees and all statewide hospital employees. Hospital CEO salaries also varied widely, ranging from $150,300 for the CEO of Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook to approximately $1.08 million for the CEO of Catholic Medical Center in Manchester.
