Lifespan Hospital System to Cut Pay for Top Executives

Lifespan Hospital System, based in Providence, R.I., is cutting the pay of its top executives, according to a report in the Seattle Times.

Lifespan said that its chief executive will take a 10 percent cut in base salary and forgo a merit increase. In addition, the chief executives and senior vice presidents at each of Lifespan’s hospitals said that they would take salary reductions.

The company said that these moves are necessary in the face of the current economy.
