Among executives of the 4,776 special districts in California, those from hospital districts were the top three earners. Palomar Pomerado Hospital District’s CEO was the highest paid, having received $1.15 million. The second highest earner was the head of the Washington Township Health Care District, who was paid $905,084, followed by the head of Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital District at $790,975.
Furthermore, hospital district executives account for seven of the top 10 earners in a California special district.
