Mr. Chiang’s project follows several compensation scandals and increased criticism directed at high-earning public sector employees. The project has already published compensation figures for more than 600,000 city and county employees and employees of more than 1,000 special districts, according to the report.
So far, the top earner of the special district employees is Nancy Farber, CEO of Washington Township Healthcare District in Fremont, Calif. Ms. Farber earned $873,598 in total wages in 2009.
