The hospital system used feedback from its employees in making the decision to cut benefits rather than lay off workers.
According to the report, the employees "overwhelmingly" preferred benefit cuts to job cuts.
The benefit cuts include the loss of one paid vacation day per year, reductions in retirement plan matching, eliminating extra pay for certain shifts and eliminating employee referral bonuses.
