9 Statistics on Neurologist Compensation

The 2009 American Medical Group Association’s survey on medical group compensation listed the median salary for neurologists at $236,500, but that figure was a shade lower for neurologists in 2010, according to Medscape’s 2011 Physician Compensation Survey.

•    Median annual compensation of all neurologists:  $200,000
•    Percentage of neurologists who made $500,000 or more:  9 percent
•    Percentage of neurologists who made $100,000 or less:  13 percent
•    Median annual compensation of male neurologists:  $207,000
•    Median annual compensation of female neurologists:  $174,750
•    Highest-paying region:  Southeast ($225,000)
•    Lowest-paying region:  West ($165,000)
•    Percentage of neurologists who invest in ASCs:  7 percent
•    Percentage of neurologists who saw a decline in compensation from 2009:  25 percent
