U.S. job postings for physicians and surgeons on the Indeed website are most likely to include a signing bonus, although the share has declined year over year.
About 3% of U.S. job postings offered a signing bonus in December — down from 6% in 2022 but higher than the 2019 average of 1.8%, according to a Feb. 26 report from Indeed’s hiring lab.
While signing bonuses have fluctuated with wage growth over the past few years, signing bonuses have remained slightly stronger, suggesting some employers may now favor one-time bonuses over raises, particularly in industries with strong hiring — such as healthcare, according to Indeed.
Below are the five healthcare roles with the highest frequency of signing bonuses on Indeed job listings, including their 2025 percentage and year-over-year percentage point change:
1. Physicians and surgeons: 10.6% (-1.2)
2. Nursing: 8.4% (-5.2)
3. Medical technician: 8.1% (-3.6)
4. Dental: 7.9% (-2.7)
5. Therapy: 7.2% (-3)
