1. About 22.5 percent of the surveyed NPs were paid an hourly rate. The hourly pay rate for NPs in full-time practice was $53.16, and the hourly pay rate for NPs regardless of hours worked per week was $51.19.
2. The majority (74.7 percent) of the surveyed NPs were salaried. The mean annual base salary for NPs was $97,083.
3. In addition to base compensation, 30.1 percent of NPs received an incentive or productivity bonus. Usually, practice revenue or profit factored into the bonus (41.3 percent), but quality measures/outcomes (31.8 percent) and patient satisfaction (27.7 percent) were also top reported factors.
4. The majority of NPs received the following employment benefits from their main NP work site:
- Paid vacation (77.2 percent)
- Professional liability insurance (72.4 percent)
- Health insurance (70.7 percent)
- Retirement planning (69.4 percent)
- Reimbursement/allowance for licensure/certification (53.2 percent)
5. As for professional development-related benefits, the majority of NPs received the following:
- Continuing education reimbursement/allowance (71.9 percent)
- Professional leave to attend meetings or conferences (66.7 percent)
- Registration fees for professional meetings or conferences (54 percent)
