The company surveyed 1,527 physicians from April 18 to June 5. According to the survey, physicians whose income increased in the past year are more likely than those whose income decreased to report the following concerning demographics and billing and collections.
- Being younger than 45 (28 percent of physicians whose income increased versus 15 percent whose income decreased).
- Specializing in behavioral health (13 percent versus 4 percent).
- Specializing in hospital-based medicine (10 percent versus 5 percent).
- Saying billing and collections from Medicaid doesn’t apply to their practice (40 percent versus 29 percent).
- Saying Medicare billing and collections doesn’t apply to their practice (39 percent versus 21 percent).
- Saying billing and collections from insurance companies doesn’t apply to their practice (28 percent versus 12 percent)
- Saying billing and collections from patients doesn’t apply to their practice (26 percent versus 12 percent)
