Twin Cities Business (TCB) will make Ishrak the subject of its December cover story, due out the week of November 23. The story provides an overview of the CEO – currently in his fifth year leading Medtronic – and highlights the 2015 acquisition of Covidien, steady improvements in the company’s financial performance, and a commitment to expanding the healthcare company’s Minnesota-based workforce.

“For this award, we considered several individuals’ achievements during the past year,” says Twin Cities Business Editor in Chief Dale Kurschner. “Ishrak stood out for exceptional leadership that is strengthening our state’s economy, reputation and culture.”

The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s Executive of the Year is cited by the publication as “an important figure in the past year’s news and (who has) made outstanding contributions to his or her company, its industry and the community.” Ishrak will be the focus of a January 1 article by the Journal, with additional coverage of the annual award in the publication’s February 26 issue.

Since joining Medtronic in 2011, Ishrak has focused the company on three core strategies of Therapy Innovation, Economic Value and Globalization. These three strategies form the basis for Medtronic’s efforts to partner with its customers to drive high-quality patient outcomes, expand patient access to healthcare, and lower costs in healthcare systems around the world.
