The new hospital could double the current facility’s 94-bed capacity to 200 beds, according to the report. The existing hospital would be converted to a long-term care facility.
The new hospital may be built in Kailua-Kona, where the population is expanding, to provide more convenient access for patients, according to the report.
The facility could be built within the next five to 10 years.
