The hospital is no longer diverting ambulances to other facilities, according to a Jan. 24 hospital statement shared with Becker’s.
The hospital and its emergency department remain open but are on a water restriction until testing is completed and the water is at a safe level for consumption. Testing began the morning on Jan. 24, and the process typically takes 24 to 48 hours.
The water main break occurred outside the hospital in the morning on Jan. 23, and repairs were completed around 7 p.m. Eastern time that day, the statement said.
Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center is a 597-bed acute care hospital and part of West Orange, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas Health.
