The program, which launched Aug.1, has enrolled 5,000 people from the Bronx and is on track to enroll 10,000 patients from the borough in the first six months. The program is currently only available in the Bronx, but it will be expanded citywide by the end of 2020.

NYC Care is a care access program for New Yorkers who are not eligible for or who cannot afford insurance. It offers access to low-cost primary and preventative care at more than 70 NYC Health + Hospitals locations across the city, as well as affordable medications to its members.

In the Bronx, members of the program are offered a first appointment with a primary care physician within two weeks. Also, nearly 3,000 prescriptions have been filled during the new extended pharmacy hours that are a part of the program.
