New Long-Term Acute-Care Hospital Opens in Central Illinois

Greater Peoria (Ill.) Specialty Hospital, a 50-bed long-term acute-care hospital, recently opened for business, according to a report by the Journal Star.

The hospital is a joint venture between St. Louis-based RehabCare Group and Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

Greater Peoria Specialty Hospital will fill a void for long-term acute-care in the area and is expected to save Peoria hospitals $20.5 million in one year, according to the report.

The 60,000 square-foot, $26 million facility is expected to employ 150 people when it reaches its full capacity.
