On Nov. 21, Pikeville (Ky.) Medical Center’s Mettu Children’s Hospital joined a statewide initiative aimed at expanding access to specialized pediatric care.
The Kentucky Children’s Hospital Affiliate Network connects hospitals like Mettu Children’s to pediatric specialists at Lexington, Ky.-based Golisano Children’s at UK. Through the partnership, Mettu Children’s gains access to continuing education, clinical support and consultations with Golisano specialists, according to a news release.
Additional benefits include guidance on pediatric protocols, peer learning and shadowing opportunities, and support in pediatric transfer decisions and quality reviews.
Mettu Children’s is the latest hospital to join the statewide affiliate network, which also includes AdventHealth Manchester, Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, Georgetown Community Hospital, Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Rockcastle Regional Hospital in Mount Vernon and UK King’s Daughters in Ashland, according to UK HealthCare.
