The University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora used patient flow software when responding to the movie theater shooting in Aurora in July that claimed 12 lives and wounded dozens more.
The University of Colorado Hospital treated 23 victims. Registering the victims using a single code, made possible through capacity management software, allowed the hospital to keep track of the patients and generate spreadsheets on the patients. Monthly drills also helped the hospital prepare for an emergency.
“The morning after the shooting, it made the staff realize how important it was to have TeleTracking,” said Paige Patterson, RN, a relief hospital manager at UC Hospital, according to the blog post.
