The rapid evaluation unit is designed to speed care for non-critical ED patients and streamline the process for discharged and admitted patients. The unit is the first phase of the hospital’s two-phase, $16.5 million ED expansion project. The second phase will expand and renovate the ED.
The ED was designed to accommodate 22,000 patients a year. Currently, the facility treats roughly 32,000 patients a year and expects to treat up to 40,000 in the near future, according to the report.
