Starting this year, the Affordable Care Act eliminated Part B coinsurance and deductibles for recommended preventive services, including many cancer screenings and key immunizations. The law also added a no-cost annual wellness visit with a physician of beneficiaries’ choice.
According to the report, more than 1.5 million Medicare beneficiaries underwent bone mass measurements; 2.3 million beneficiaries underwent mammography screenings; and 1.1 million beneficiaries underwent prostate-specific antigen testing. In order to increase awareness about the preventive services, CMS will be launching a public outreach campaign in communities across the country.
