VA officials extended the medical center’s expected opening from this October to summer 2013 due to design errors, delays in acquiring equipment and undisclosed issues with the contractor.
U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown (D-Fla.) said VA officials postponed purchasing medical equipment in an effort to obtain the most up-to-date versions, according to the report. This postponement slowed the architects’ ability to design the size of the rooms that would house the equipment.
