Police said a 32-year-old man was involved in an altercation in a nearby city. He drove to the hospital but was followed by the alleged shooter. He reportedly was shot in the upper body while in his vehicle in the hospital parking lot around 2:41 p.m.
“We are very proud of our emergency and security teams, which responded with textbook precision to a walk-in gunshot victim yesterday afternoon,” a hospital spokesperson told Becker’s. “As clinicians treated the patient, the department was immediately placed on lockdown. Baltimore city police and hospital security personnel secured the campus, and a suspect was apprehended shortly after the incident. Our leaders, clinicians and campus security worked in perfect synchronization to ensure the safety of patients, associates and visitors at all times before lifting the lockdown at about 6 p.m.”
Becker’s will update this story if more information becomes available.
