The hospital replaces the former Choctaw General Hospital which was closed 17 years ago and reopened as a nursing home.
Meridian, Miss.-based Rush Health Systems will operate the 25-bed rural hospital, under a 10 year, $100 a year lease from the city, according to a Press-Register report. The facility is expected to provide much needed medical care to the community, which is roughly 60 miles away from the closest hospital.
