UW Hospital and Clinics Installs Country’s First-of-its-Kind MR Surgical Suite

University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics is the first in the country to install a GE 1.5T wide bore MR Surgical Suite, according to a GE Healthcare report reprinted on UW Health’s website.

The suite includes an operating room connected to a magnetic resonance room separated by double doors. This design enables physicians to image patients during tumor resections and deep brain stimulation procedures. The rooms can also be used for surgical and imaging procedures independent of one another, according to the report.
