Memphis, Tenn.-based Regional One Health has received notice from the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission that its certificate of need was approved to build a $900 million hospital in Memphis. The CON request will be finalized March 24.
The former Commercial Appeal building site will be transferred into the new hospital.
“I am extremely pleased that the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission approved our CON and agreed that we need to build a new facility to help ensure a healthier future for the greater Memphis community for generations to come,” Reginald Coopwood, MD, president and CEO, Regional One Health, said in a news release shared with Becker’s.
The project is expected to result in nearly $892 million in economic growth by 2027 and create around 3,600 construction and secondary jobs. It will deliver more than $37 million in state tax revenue.
Regional One Health shared plans to move forward with the new facility in late September 2025, which is backed by a $500 million investment from Shelby County, Tenn.
