The hospital would be the major component in the Sacramento-based health system’s plan to put together a nearly 500,000 sq. ft. medical campus on 41-acres.
Sutter already has two small medical office buildings on the property. It is now awaiting approval from the Elk Grove Planning Commission for construction on the rest of the campus, The Sacramento Bee reports.
Sutter hopes to complete the first part of the 133,000 sq. ft. hospital by 2012, and could build a surgery center and medical office building over the next two years.
The Elk Grove Planning Commission is expected to make its initial decision on the project in December. Construction would start soon after.
