The Senate Appropriations Committee voted on Thursday to approve a fiscal year 2013 appropriations bill that provides $71 billion in discretionary funding for HHS programs, according to an AHA News Now report.

A subcommittee of the Senate Appropriations Committee approved funding on Wednesday that increases discretionary spending for HHS programs by $1.5 billion in fiscal year 2013, supporting funding for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
