Monongalia County, W.Va.-based Mon Health System announced July 18 that it has filed a formal application for a Certificate of Need to build a new, small-format hospital in Bridgeport, W.Va., to serve the greater Harrison County community. 

Escondido, Calif.-based Palomar Health has teamed up with Chicago-based Kindred Behavioral Health in order to construct the new 120-inpatient-bed Palomar Behavioral Health Institute.

Children's Hospital New Orleans completed a $300 million renovation last year, but saved about $250 million off estimates, according to a report from Fast Company.

Nashville (Tenn.) General Hospital is considering rebuilding in a new location rather than renovating its current facility, NBC affiliate WSMV reported July 13. 

Birmingham, Ala.-based Encompass Health and St. Louis-based BJC HealthCare have been awarded a certificate of need to build a freestanding, 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Town and Country, Mo.

HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital announced construction on the new $11 million HCA Florida Breakfast Point Emergency in Panama City Beach, Fla., according to a press release shared with Becker's on July 12.

Memphis, Tenn.-based St. Jude Children's Research Hospital announced it will increase funding for its study and treatment of pediatric catastrophic diseases by $1.4 billion, bringing the total for its six-year strategic plan to $12.9 billion. 

Morgantown-based West Virginia University Medicine Children's Hospital will open Sept. 29, according to West Virginia News.

Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health's expansion plan for its St. Joseph Mercy Brighton (Mich.) Health Center has been paused following a township meeting July 11, Livingston Daily Daily reported July 12.
