Tulsa, Okla.-based St. Francis Health System has finished a $357 expansion at its St. Francis Hospital South in Tulsa.
The expansion comprises 283,600 square feet of new construction and 51,000 square feet of renovations to existing space, according to a Jan. 29 news release shared with Becker’s.
The project added inpatient beds, almost doubling capacity to 194 beds, and new operating rooms, bringing the hospital’s total to 14. Enhanced imaging, additional parking, a new food service and dining space, a coffee shop, and a larger hospital lobby and chapel were also part of the expansion.
Expansion planning started in 2019 with the development of a new emergency center, and the hospital began construction of a new patient bed tower in 2021.
“In addition to expanding clinical capacity, the project is expected to support more than 450 new jobs at the hospital,” the release said. “An economic impact study from the Tulsa Regional Chamber estimates the expansion will generate nearly $260 million in labor income and contribute more than $350 million to the regional economy, with total economic output of more than $614 million.”
