The 437,000-square-foot facility will house more than 200 beds, a four-story tower, an intensive care unit, an emergency department and a same-day surgery center.  In addition, the facility will include a new family birth center.

All inpatient services — which are currently split between HealthAlliance’s Mary’s Avenue and Broadway campuses — will be moved to the replacement facility.

“We’re thrilled to have received approval for this important project from the Department of Health,” said David Scarpino, president and CEO of HealthAlliance. “Like us, the Department of Health sees the critical need for this effort and I would like to thank New York State for its steadfast support.”

Construction of the facility is expected to be complete in 2020.
