Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital will submit a certificate of need this spring for a $22 million project to expand and modernize its 25-bed emergency department.
Olean General Hospital is a member of Buffalo, N.Y.-based Kaleida Health and part of Olean-based Upper Allegheny Health System, according to its website.
The expansion will place the ED beds into dedicated individual treatment spaces while adding a comprehensive psychiatric emergency program, a CT suite, an interventional radiology room, a decontamination room and a sexual assault nurse examiner room, a spokesperson for Kaleida Health said in a statement shared with Becker’s.
A single-story, 13,000-square-foot addition will also be included in the project, which will be added to the hospital’s existing 10,000-square-foot ED.
“The addition and renovation project will be phased construction to allow the emergency department to remain operational throughout construction,” the statement said.
