The new cancer center will be affiliated with the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute at Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center in Columbus. The new ER not only triples the size of the space but includes 16 private rooms.
The hospital, which prides itself on short patient wait times (nine minutes on average vs. an hour at most larger hospitals, according to hospital CEO Dana Engle), is hoping the expansion will keep those patient waits short.
“It’s focus and knowing what’s important to your patient, not wanting people to sit there and wait,” said Jennifer Piccione, vice president of nursing and clinical services at Madison Health.
