Inova gets $20M donation for critical needs support

Falls Church, Va.-based Inova, a nonprofit health system, has received a $20 million donation to support critical needs.

The funding, which came from the Peterson family, will direct $15 million toward the Inova Life with Cancer program and $5 million toward the Annandale, Va.-based Inova Fairfax Hospital Emergency Room.

The cancer program will be renamed Inova Peterson Life with Cancer. The emergency room will be expanded to add more beds, an EmPATH unit for behavioral health patients and a dedicated entrance for pediatric emergencies, according to an April 16 news release from Inova.

The Peterson family has donated over $50 million to Inova over 30 years.

Inova comprises multiple hospitals, emergency and urgent care centers, primary and specialty care practices, and outpatient services. It has 24,000 employees, according to the release.
