Hartford (Conn.) Hospital has unveiled plans for a $950 million, 14-story inpatient tower.
The tower will have 250 private smart rooms, three floors of procedural space, and a new patient arrival center that will serve as the hospital’s main entrance, according to an April 27 system news release shared with Becker’s. The tower, expected to open in 2031, will connect multiple parts of the campus, as well as expand emergency department capacity and expand and upgrade cancer care and infusion services. Construction will begin next year.
The project is part of a more than $1 billion investment to transform the main campus into a quaternary academic medical center and expand access to care. This includes renovating roughly 15 buildings and expanding community-based programs and clinics, the report said.
