Cleveland Clinic said June 25 that it plans to expand both Avon Hospital and the Richard E. Jacobs Family Health Center, which share a campus in Ohio.

Five things to know, per a health system news release:

1. The $340 million expansion would nearly double the size of the campus in Avon.

2. Avon Hospital, currently a 126-bed facility, will expand through:

  • The addition of a bed tower;
  • New operating rooms;
  • A larger emergency department;
  • Additional lab and imaging space; and
  • A new parking garage for patients, physicians and staff.

3. The Richard E. Jacobs Family Health Center, which opened in 2011, will expand through the addition of approximately 90 exam rooms and cancer services, including radiation oncology.

4. Cleveland Clinic said the expansion project aims to meet growing demand for patient care in Cleveland’s west side. Since 2017, the health system reported a more than 40% increase in surgeries and admissions at Avon Hospital, as well as a nearly 75% increase in imaging services\.

5. The health system expects to begin construction on the expansion projects in 2026, with completion expected in 2028.
