City of Hope cancer center gifted $25M for expansion project

Duarte, Calif.-based City of Hope, a cancer center, has received $25 million for its expansion into Orange County, The Orange County Register reported Sept. 12.

The organization recently opened a large outpatient facility in Irvine, Calif., and has begun construction on a hospital nearby. 

Philanthropists Julia and George Argyros made the donation at a Sept. 10 gala. A healing garden recently constructed at the new outpatient facility will be named after the two. 

The new hospital is slated to open in 2025.
