Irving, Texas-based Christus Health will break ground July 23 on a new community hospital in Los Alamos, N.M.
The 37,277-square-foot, two-story hospital will become Christus Health’s 48th hospital in the U.S., a spokesperson for the health system confirmed to Becker’s. The system operates more than 60 hospitals across Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Mexico.
The new hospital will include:
- A seven-room emergency department with a dedicated trauma room and two triage rooms
- An endoscopy suite
- Two operating rooms for surgical and procedural care
- Imaging services, including CT, MRI, X-ray and ultrasound
- Four inpatient beds
- An on-site laboratory and pharmacy
- A six-chair infusion center for cancer care
“This new community hospital will allow Christus St. Vincent to provide essential, integrated healthcare services closer to home for the residents of Los Alamos,” Lillian Montoya, senior vice president of Christus Health New Mexico Group Operations, said in a news release. “Once completed, it will complement our existing Los Alamos clinics and further strengthen our commitment to the communities we serve throughout Northern New Mexico.”
Patients at the new hospital will also have access to clinical expertise through the Christus St. Vincent Mayo Clinic Care Network, which provides access to Mayo Clinic knowledge and second opinions for participating providers.
