Since the air-conditioning went down, temperatures in the area have ranged from 92 to 108 degrees, which sit above historical averages. Briar Health Care is using four swamp coolers to cool the facility.
Kathy Zacharias, the facility’s administrator, declined to be recorded but told FOX40 the temperatures in patient rooms are below 81 degrees. She said no one has gotten sick or died as a result of the heat. The air-conditioner is slated to be repaired Tuesday after a part is delivered from another state.
