AdventHealth building supply chain facility for its Florida hospitals

Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth is building a 300,000-square-foot facility in Central Florida that will have supplies for the health system's hospitals and care sites throughout the state.

The facility will be co-developed with Medline, AdventHealth's prime vendor for more than 50 hospitals and its other care sites across nine states. AdventHealth's expanded partnership with Medline enables the health system to own its inventory and distribution strategy and create a structure to accommodate future growth.

The supply chain center is expected to be completed by 2024.

"This endeavor with Medline … brings together the diverse capabilities of a large national health system and an industry partner to create a more resilient supply chain that allows for better patient outcomes and optimized costs," AdventHealth CFO Paul Rathbun said in an Aug. 9 news release. "Working with Medline provides a deep logistics network to ensure resiliency, while also allowing for AdventHealth to own and manage inventory."
