The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. UPMC Altoona to open $20M outpatient center
UPMC Altoona (Pa.) began constructing a $20 million outpatient facility in Ebensburg, Pa., slated to open in early 2018.

2. Lifespan proposes $43M obstetrics unit at Rhode Island Hospital
Providence, R.I.-based Lifespan is seeking state approval to build a 31-bed, $43 million obstetrics unit at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence Journal reports.

3. Brattleboro Memorial Hospital proposes $22.7M expansion
Brattleboro (Vt.) Memorial Hospital is planning a $22.7 million expansion to house updated operating rooms, medical offices and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation facilities, reports VTDigger.

4. UVA Children’s Hospital completes ICU renovation
UVA Children’s Hospital in Charlottesville, Va., on Jan. 2 unveiled its recently renovated 9,000-square-foot pediatric intensive care unit, CBS 19 reports.

5. Erlanger seeks $25M to build new hospital
Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger Health System disclosed plans to build a $25 million regional hospital in Dunlap, Tenn., according to a Times Free Press report.

6. NJ board recommends approval of Inspira Health’s $326M facility
A 25-page report by the New Jersey Department of Health recommended the State Health Planning Board greenlight Woodbury, N.J.-based Inspira Health Network’s proposed $326 million replacement hospital for its Woodbury location, The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

7. Altru to replace Main Clinic after discovering design deficiencies
Grand Forks, N.D.-based Altru Health System disclosed plans to replace its Main Clinic following the identification of design deficiencies that caused a structural problem last week, the Grand Forks Herald reported.

8. Alabama hospital kicks off expansion project
A groundbreaking ceremony Jan. 4 marked the official beginning of an expansion project at Cullman (Ala.) Regional Medical Center, according to a CullmanSense report.

9. Aunt Martha’s Roseland Medical Center opens clinic in New Roseland Community Hospital
Chicago-based Aunt Martha’s Roseland Medical Center opened a clinic at New Roseland Community Hospital in Chicago Dec. 15.
