GE to slash 1,200 jobs in Switzerland, 200 less than expected

General Electric will eliminate 1,200 positions in Switzerland amid a larger strategy to reduce its global footprint by 30 percent, according to Reuters.

The cuts will take place at GE's troubled power generation business. The company is getting rid of 200 fewer jobs in Switzerland than it originally announced in December 2017. At that time, GE planned to eliminate 4,500 jobs in Europe from its French conglomerate Alstom's power and grid businesses.

GE has about 4,200 workers in Switzerland, according to the report.
