Palm Vascular Centers to join ACO

Miami Beach, Fla.-based Palm Vascular Centers will join the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based PremierMD Accountable Care Organization, according to a recent announcement from the medical center's CEO Eric Rogers.

Through the partnership, PVC's 11 providers have the opportunity to share in up to half of the savings generated for Medicare. The ACO will also have the opportunity to save about 40 to 50 percent on vascular services at PVC, as compared to vascular services at a hospital.

The savings will be particularly significant in the treatment of uterine fibroids, which can be costly when treated in the hospital, according to Mr. Rogers' announcement. PVC offers an outpatient procedure associated with lower costs and a faster patient recovery time.
