Accountable care organizations and patient-centered medical home have shown positive impacts on reducing healthcare costs and improving patient outcomes, according to Treo Solutions’ analysis of its early-adopter clients.

Treo Solutions, a healthcare data analytics firm, analyzed one- to two-year old accountable care programs, including ACOs and PCMHs of varying sizes. The client programs have achieved the following:

•    Reduced spending by 2.5 percent
•    Reduced inpatient admissions 2.5 percent
•    Increased outpatient services 7.4 percent
•    Reduced readmissions 9.7 percent
•    Reduced potentially preventable initial admissions by 13.2 percent
