Greenville, N.C.-based ECU Health — a collaboration between East Carolina University and Vidant Health — restored full in-network status with UnitedHealthcare plans under a new multi-year agreement, the insurer and health system said Aug. 7.
The contract spans employer-sponsored commercial, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid members, reaching more than 100,000 UnitedHealthcare-covered patients. Negotiations had previously been extended until early August from mid-July.
According to UnitedHealthcare’s news release, Vidant Medical Group physicians and ECU Health’s outpatient facilities are back in network, as well. Leading up to the new contract, some plans had not experienced network disruptions with ECU Physicians or ECU Health hospitals.
ECU Health’s news release said the contract also included revised reimbursement terms, lowered administrative burden and fewer barriers to care.
