To meet certification standards, the hospital’s orthopedic surgery department underwent a highly detailed, on-site survey over the course of two days in November 2016. For the survey, a Joint Commission reviewer analyzed the care provided to total hip and knee replacements surgery patients. The review included an analysis of pre-operative evaluations, the surgeries and post-operation recovery in the hospital.

“This certificate shows that Mount Sinai West provides an exceedingly high level of care in every parameter of joint replacement when it comes to positive outcomes, low complication rates and the high patient satisfaction,” said Michael Bronson, MD, chair of the orthopedics department, in an emailed release.
